Forbes — Letter to the Editor

I just received the Forbes magazine that features: Attack of the Blogs. I finally took the time to read the article. So, here’s my letter to the editor.

I know that you have been inundated by e-mails from the blogosphere. So, I suspect this one will never see the light of day, however, the two items that you seemed to omit: Most bloggers are 1> Experts in their field and 2> Passionate about their subject area. With those two elements, they provide a tremendous amount of valuable information to the masses. And, the information is free.

Kindest regards,

Is it Easy to Purchase a New TV?

A long time ago, I thought technology was supposed to make life easier. Then I read this quote (Michael Levine) and it made a lot of sense: “We rarely simplify things, no matter how hard we try. Gadgets are fun, and they may perform tasks we find beneficial, but they don’t actually simplify our lives: they make our lives more complex.”

I still have not made the plunge into the flat-screen world. I’m thinking about it. The other day, I was listening to consumer guru Clark Howard. He was explaining all the alternatives available for big-screen TV. Wow, he had my head spinning.

Moral of the story: Business Week has a special section to assist in the mind-boggling world of purchasing a TV!

Information Wants to Be Free

Well, at least for this week: You can get the online version of the Wall Street Journal for free.

Just a thought: While I pay for the online version of the Journal, I prefer the dead tree version. It’s a whole lot easier to read the paper than the online version.

When is a brand spread too thin?

I’m reading an ad for: Donald J. Trump’s signature clothing collection. The ad, of course, is a picture of him with his stern look and “interesting” hair-do.

It makes me think: When is a brand spread too thin? What’s next? Trump Hair Products?

Come on Donald, enough is enough. If you’re not careful, your ego is going to explode.

Microsoft Takes off the Gloves

Now that Dollar Bill has taken off his gloves, this revolution is going to get very exciting. Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and a few others will make the next few years very interesting. The good news: “We the consumer will benefit from this battle-royal.”

The Wall Street Journal states: “Bill Gates’ radical reshaping of how Microsoft develops software and services in the face of competition from a new generation of Internet services.” Read all about it here:

That Revolution Word Pops Up Again

A Wall Street Journal headline: “Any Big Revolution On the Net Will Be Televised by Microsoft”. And in the article: “The belief that in certain tech circles that the Internet is in the midst of a revolutionary shift. Hey, thankfully they didn’t say paradigm shift. I guess that term is Web 1.0.
