Google Whacking

My definintion of the popular term Google Whacking: When your business becomes trivialized by Google. Exhibit One: The newspaper industry.

On another note: Here’s one thing that bugs me about professional journalists/newspapers. Many journalists publish their e-mail address with their byline. In my unscientific tests; if you e-mail a journalist, they do not respond. How’s that for . . .

1. Goodwill
2. Understanding that the Internet is a communiation vehicle.

By the way, I give an A+ to Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal. If you e-mail him, he will respond. Journalists, you can learn a lesson from Walt.

  1. I’m a journalist, I try to get my editors to include my email or website address with my byline and always respond to correspondence. Go on give it a try. Of course, I might be busy when you call, or have a deadline, or not be in my office, or, or…….
