The Philosophical Difference Between a Journalist Blogger and non-Journalist Blogger

In memory of my grandfather — The Professor and philosopher.

It’s very simple:

1. The journalist blogger (Forbes, Time, NY Times, and zillions of others) blog because they have to.

2. The non-journalist blogger blogs because he has an expertise and is passionate about it.

And . . . this is very important: The journalist is trained in telling: They do not participate in a two-way conversation. The non-journalist blogger enjoys two-communication.

Don’t believe me: Here’s the test. E-mail a journalist (if the e-mail address is listed) — an e-mail that “requires” a response. I’ll bet you will not get a response. Now e-mail the non-journalist blogger. I’ll bet you’ll get a response.
